What Is a Ganglion Cyst?

A fluid-filled sac arising from a joint or tendon sheath. Most commonly found on the back of the wrist, palm side of the wrist, or base of a finger. Many are asymptomatic.

Treatment

Observation is appropriate for asymptomatic cysts. When treatment is desired, aspiration or surgical excision are the main options. Surgical excision has a lower recurrence rate.
