A progressive condition in which thickened cords of tissue cause the fingers to curl toward the palm.
Dupuytren's contracture is a fibroproliferative disorder of the palmar fascia. Over time, nodules and cords of thickened tissue form under the skin of the palm, gradually pulling one or more fingers into a bent position that cannot be straightened.
Options include needle aponeurotomy, collagenase injection (Xiaflex), or surgical fasciectomy. Dr. Letzelter will recommend the most appropriate option based on the pattern and severity of your contracture.
Dr. Letzelter sees patients in Fairfax VA, Friendship Heights DC, and Children's National Hospital.
